The Monument is to the west of Colorado Springs. I have driven past this every summer for 25 years and I finally decided to stop. It was a Monday so not too many tourists were there. I walked around a bit and took a few pictures. The visitor's center is only open Wed-Sun so I did not see any of the small insect fossils.
The Park has two districts. Tucson Mountain District (West) and the Rincon Mountain District (East). The first day I visited the West.
Bucket list item knocked off! Oregon had several wildfires burning in the area but I only had 1 day to see this so here we go!
While visiting Seattle in July 2025 I also wanted to visit Mount Rainier and North Cascades National Parks. Due to Timed Entry requirements into Mount Rainier National Park I did not get a ticket soon enough so I had to view it from outside the official entry gate. Tickets were released May 15th and apparently all were taken.
Gotta be a tourist and take pictures to prove where I have been!
Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is a free activity and has interesting rock formations.
Old Faithful is pretty reliable within a few minutes of the time they display. I waited phone in hand to record this event!
